Establishment of School Student Research Clubs

  1. Objective:
    1. Introduce research clubs in schools for Grade 6-13 students, fostering critical thinking & a culture of research.
  2. Effective Date:
    1. 01.01.2024
  3. Membership:
    1. Open to interested Grade 6-13 students.
  4. Committee:
    1. Executive board and members selected annually.
  5. Objectives:
    1. Enhance critical thinking, establish a research culture, strengthen learning-teaching processes & promote personality development.
  6. Roles:
    1. Chief Patron (Principal), Patron, Teacher in-charge, President, Vice President, Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Treasurer & Committee Members.
  7. Responsibilities:
    1. Leadership, organization, record-keeping & financial management.
  8. Meetings:
    1. Committee meetings every three months, Annual General Meeting yearly.
  9. Activities:
    1. Workshops, seminars, research projects & participation in conferences.
  10. Financial Admin:
    1. Managed through the School Development Society's bank account.
  11. Guidance:
    1. Provided by Ministry, Principals & Teachers.

  1. This circular will be implemented from 01.01.2019
  2. This Circular & Guide Book is issued by the Ministry of Education in concurrence with the Department of the Treasury
  3. Supersedes Previous Circulars:

    1. Financial statements & accounts for 2018 follow previous Circular & Guide Books
    2. Circulars in effect during 2018 remain until 31.12.2018
    3. Follow this circular for planning & estimates in 2019
    4. Actions should be taken to set up School Development Executive Committee & School Management Committee as per the terms & instructions of this circular by January 2019 & to implement them from 01.01.2019
    5. The current School Development Society's accounts & related documents should be maintained in 2019 and beyond
